THE MAN IN THE WHITE VAN

It’s a blissful time of innocence in the small town of Brooksville, Florida. Fourteen-year-old Annie Williams spends her days riding Rebel, her beloved horse, and coveting her secret crush on Marc, the new boy in town. The orange grove and cheerleading practice highlight her simple days. But her carefree world begins to unravel when an ominous White Van keeps appearing at school, near the barn, next to the woods she runs through. As Annie’s story unfolds, we flashforward through time to the sixth victim, then the fifth… Annie’s parents don’t believe her; Annie’s older sister wants nothing to do with her and accuses Annie of making up stories, as she’s been prone to do. One night while her father is away on one of his many business trips, the intimidating White Van appears even closer to home, outside the barn. Terrified and beside herself, Annie confronts the van. It flashes its brights; a passing car approaches; the White Van speeds away. Annie, trembling in fear, sprints home, but her mother and sister again accuse her of making up stories. She is sent to her room, alone and petrified. Again, we flashforward, the fourth victim, then the third… Annie’s long walk to school and home again, her solitary horseback rides through the woods, her time alone in the barn, even her time in her bedroom, all become chilling, dangerous endeavors. The headlights following her, his steel-toed boots, glimpses of the van, they all haunt and terrify her. And still, no one believes her…. and then we meet the second victim. Determined to experience her first kiss and ignore the nightmare she’s been living, Annie rides Rebel to a friend’s Halloween party, promising her mother she’ll return before dark. But time gets away from her and the White Van is waiting! Annie’s ride home turns into a living hell and she must fight with every fiber of her being to survive. William Mansfield, Jr., the prolific Florida serial killer in the 1970s, has made contact with his very first victim!
